Carmel Rolls

Author Or Recipe byCommonGround

This yummy, melt in your mouth, carmel roll recipe is from CommonGround North Dakota Volunteer Jessica Gauslow's grandmother, Rose Horner. Rose farmed and raised 11 children near Bernstad, North Dakota. You may not find Bernstad on a map, but it is south west of Napoleon, North Dakota near Beaver Lake State Park. This year, the Gauslow family made Grandma Rose's special carmel roll on Easter morning.

Yields12 Servings
Sweet Dough
 3 cups Flour
 1 ½ cups Water
 ¼ cup Oil
 4 tbsp Sugar
 1 tsp Salt
 1 tbsp YeastAunt Joyce says - 1 1/2 Tablespoons
 1 Egg
Cinnamon and Sugar Mixture
 ¼ cup Sugar
 1 tsp Cinnamon
Carmel Roll Mixture
 ¾ cup Whipping Cream
 ¾ cup Brown Sugar
 1 tsp Instant Vanilla Pudding
1

First, combine sweet dough ingredients and mix the dough in the bread machine on the "dough" setting. Let rise in a greased, sealed container and place in warm spot to rise for about two hours or until doubled in size. Then gently punch down. Roll out the dough.

2

Next, brush 2 tablespoons melted butter over dough and then sprinkle dough with white sugar and cinnamon mixture.

3

Roll dough into a log. Cut the log in half. Then cut each half into thirds. Finally cut each third in half to form the roll.

4

Lay the 6 cut rolls flat in a greased 9"×13" pan, leaving space between each piece for them to rise. This recipe makes enough for 12 rolls, so enough for two 9"x13" pans.

5

Cover and let rolls rise for a half an hour.

6

Next prepare the carmel roll mixture. Mix whipping cream, brown sugar and instant vanilla pudding together. Warm in the microwave.

7

Pour the warm carmel mixture over one 9"x13" pan of rolls and then prepare another recipe of carmel mixture for the second pan.

8

Bake at 325 for 30 minutes. Serve warm with butter and enjoy!
